A routing number is an 8-9 digit banking code that identifies the financial institution and branch location associated with a bank account. It includes the following 3 components: 1. **Institution number** The institution number is always a 3-digit code that signifies a certain bank. A full list of institution numbers for all Canadian banks can be found [here](https://help.jetpay.baselinepayments.com//what-is-my-institution-number?hsLang=en). 2. **Transit number** This is the 5-digit number that identifies the location of your branch. From there, you should be able to directly view your account, transit, and institution number. Many banks also give you the option to download a 'Void Cheque' or 'Direct Deposit Form', which contains your routing numbers. 3. **Contact your bank** If you are unsure about your routing information, contact your bank.
